Education and Continuing Education
I attended Washington University for dental school and received my Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics from St. Louis University in 1986. I have continued to learn about emerging methods and technologies that benefit my patients by surpassing the 25 hours per year of continuing education required by California law. My patients benefit by knowing that they are receiving the best possible orthodontic care.
After over 25 years in practice, I still find it extremely gratifying to provide a service that improves smiles, self-esteem, and confidence! I feel great knowing that my patients are receiving the best orthodontic treatment possible.
I love the opportunity to meet and work with new and interesting patients who continually enrich my life and practice. The enthusiasm of our patients brings such a positive energy to our office.
We promote great treatment results with bimonthly drawings for our patients. Patients who have good hygiene, arrive for their appointments on time and wear their elastics as instructed are entered into drawings at each visit and have the opportunity to win. We provide Game Boys for patients to play with while awaiting appointments, and free WiFi access is available in the reception area.
I am a member of the Sacramento District Dental Society (SDDS) and have participated in the Smile For Kids Program since its inception over 10 years ago. Each year, we treat two children free of charge each year. The SDDS screens hundreds of children and then assigns our office two children who are in most need of orthodontics and cannot afford treatment. We also participate in the Signature Scholarship Program, by donating a full tuition scholarship to a major university each year.
Family Life and Hobbies
I grew up in Sacramento and have lived in the greater Sacramento area continuously other than during college and dental training. My wife, Margaret, and I have six children and fifteen grandchildren. In addition to being an orthodontist I have two other loves - I am also a private pilot and farmer! I fly small planes as often as possible and grow alfalfa on our farm.
My son, Christian, is currently in dental school at University of Pacific in San Francisco and plans to join the practice when his training is completed.
